Durex Deluxe Micro Fine: The diamond standard
Reviewed: 20 Nov 2010
Reviewer: Tupperwareheart, a going steady bisexual female

Out of all the non-Latex condoms OH and I have tried (and there have been many), these are the very best.

Packaging:

Well, you can see for yourself - they're beautifully packaged. Gone are the cardboard boxes that require you to shake one end or fumble inside it, and in their place, a stylish package with a lid that flips open and allows you to get at the condoms with ease.

The box and booklet inside proudly claim these are 'The Diamond Standard' in thinness. This makes them sound more like Finish dishwasher tablets than luxury contraception to me but there you go!

These condoms are really quite expensive. At £9.99 for 5 that works out and around £2 a go, and at first I was fearful that this extra money had simply bought us a snazzier box to keep the condoms in and little else. Thankfully I was proven wrong.

Ease of Use:

The ingenious design doesn't stop at the outer packaging. Durex have completely changed the way they present the individual condoms here as well. The standard tear sachets have been replaced with little plastic pods, making sure each condom is stored safely and stylishly. I much prefer this design, the ease of pulling back the lid and the reassurance that the condom inside is so much better protected beats tearing at foil any day.

Another feature which is entirely superficial but lovely to have is the fact that these are completely transparent. Let's face it, a penis in a condom can occasionally resemble a sausage in a tight skin. With the new transparent design, you can barely see that it's on. A small point to make, but can make a difference.

My OH is average sized, but with other latex-free condoms we've found them very tight and tricky to get on, not so the Deluxe. They slide on so easily which really made the experience that little bit more enjoyable for us. As everyone knows, nothing kills the sexy mood faster than looking up at your partner to find them swearing at a small piece of rubber and struggling to squeeze themselves into it.

Lovehoney's description does note that these are Extra Large so maybe that's why they were a little easier to roll on, but either way it makes a nice change from the usual hassle and we didn't notice they were much larger in fit to the others we'd tried.

Comfort:

Bliss.

These are every bit as thin as advertised, Diamond Standard indeed. I'm not sure about the term 'superior heat transfer' but it did give us both the closest sensation to wearing nothing we've ever experienced.

The lube was truly wonderful too. Plenty of it, but not enough to make the condom impossible to keep on and it didn't have that strange smell I've found some do. In fact, the condoms are reassuringly odourless.

No chafing, no loosening or rolling down of the condom halfway through the fun. It stayed perfectly in place until we were done with it, everything I expect from a condom but until now haven't managed to find.

Basically...

These are the best latex-free condoms I've found so far. They deliver everything they promise to, but at £2 a shag they should!

Pros
Packaging, thinness, easy to put on, good lube.

Cons
The price. To me they're worth it, but they're still very expensive.

Bottom Line
The closest thing to wearing nothing, you get what you pay for.
